Not quite ready to redo the kitchen in the new house, but cannot live with the mousy brown counter tops, so a counter rescue is in order.
You can do it! Â Start with DAICHÂ COATINGSÂ

Basically a DIY roll on stone textured paint to cover the existing surface of your counter tops. Great coverage and durability. Amazing step by step tutorial that can be done over a weekend!
Now for that backsplash, I could not leave that brown laminate, and I had to remove it anyway when I did the counters. I thought a glass mosaic would make it a bit more zippy.
You can do it! Â Start with typically a 12×12 sheet, of glass tile backed with mesh. You need a trowel, some thinset and unsanded grout. Paste them to the wall with the thinset, cutting as necessary, and once set, use the grout to fill in the gaps. Wipe excess with a damp sponge.
Ahhhhhh…..much better.
AfterThe finale, a touch of yellow happiness. I believe cooking can now resume.
